Bed Bug Preparation Treatment and Guide
What NOT To Do Before Treatment
- Do not bomb/fog the home.
- Do not spray DIY insecticides or alcohol in sleeping areas (this scatters bed bugs deeper).
- Do not move infested items to other rooms or into vehicles.
- Do not block beds or couches with bagged items—techs need clear access.
- Do not bring in “new” furniture or mattresses before or after treatment.

Store Clean Items in “Tertiary” Areas
- After drying, store clean items in clean spaces away from bedrooms and living rooms (e.g., a bathroom, kitchen, garage, or a low-risk closet).
• • Keep them bagged or in sealed bins until the home is cleared for re-entry.
Remove All Covers & Plastics From Sleep Surfaces
• • Remove certified bed bug encasements, covers, and any plastic wrap from box springs, platforms, and mattresses so we can treat seams and surfaces.
Disassemble Sleep Surfaces for Access
- Remove box springs and mattresses from bed frames and place them where technicians can easily treat them (leaned safely or staged per our instructions).
• • If you have platform beds, loosen slats/boards for treatment access.
Be Ready to Vacate
- Plan for up to 4 hours out of the home (including pets) after treatment begins.
- We’ll advise exact re-entry timing and post-care steps at the visit.
Bed Bug Preparation FAQ
Do I have to remove all bedding and wash it?
Yes. Wash in hot water and dry on high heat. Store the clean items outside bedrooms and living rooms (bagged or in sealed bins) until after treatment.
Should I keep mattress/box spring encasements on?
No—remove all encasements and plastics before treatment so we can access seams and surfaces. You can re-encase after treatment if advised.
Can I bring in a new mattress after treatment?
No. All furniture and beds must be in the home before treatment. Do not bring in new or stored pieces after—this can re-introduce bed bugs.
Do I need to leave the home?
Yes. Expect to vacate for up to 4 hours (including pets). We’ll confirm the exact re-entry time on site.
Will you remove 100% of the bed bugs?
Our preparation + professional treatment is designed for complete eradication. Proper prep, access to all areas, and adherence to post-care guidance ensure 100% removal.
Should I keep cleaning after treatment?
Yes—light vacuuming of edges/under furniture, clutter reduction, and mattress/box spring encasements (after treatment) support long-term success.
Can I use sprays or foggers before you come?
No. DIY sprays, alcohol, and foggers scatter bed bugs and make them harder to eliminate. Save the space for professional treatment.
