One sighting almost always means that you have an overpopulation of mice and not just one mouse. One mouse will die in 9 to 12 months and may never be seen or found again, but if you have to that can mate they will produce more than 1500 in a year. Seeing mice more than once and seeing mice in multiple locations means that you already have to many mice. Trapping mice one at a time has never been a good or proven method because they reproduce to fast to catch them one at a time. Mice will populate an area and will not travel farther than 4 ft. Once they overpopulate in one area they start populating others until they take over the entire home. It is important to kill them faster than they reproduce, so catching mice with mechanical traps will never solve the problem. All efforts should be on completely eradicating the mice and not trying to secure the house and keep them out, they are already in the home. Once you completely eradicate the mice then it is time to make it more difficult to get in. Pest management programs for prevention is important only after the mice are eradicated. Remember, depending on where you live winters will secure your home, mice cannot live outside when temperatures drop to 38 degrees. Mice are not invading homes one at a time like most of us think.
